Winterthur municipal police

The permanent exhibition at the new headquarters of the Winterthur municipal police tells a hundred years of police history. Public History Research helped shape its concept and content and set out the historical context behind the objects.

Police

The exhibition fills the three-storey foyer of the new headquarters and shows how the tasks and methods of police work have changed over a hundred years.

Public History Research examined the force’s historical holdings together with the interior architect and scenographer Nader A. Taghavi-GODUTCH, its technical equipment, uniforms, documents and photographs. We assessed each exhibit historically, placed it in context and dated it. The collaboration produced a vivid introduction to the history of police work.

The scenographer’s design joins the historical exhibits and the architecture of the new building into a coherent picture of how policing has changed.
