A rascals’ road movie
‘Rascals on the Road’ (‘Mein Name ist Eugen’) is a Swiss dialect film adaptation of Klaus Schädelin’s children’s classic from the 1960s. With just over 500,000 admissions, it ranks among the most successful Swiss film productions.
From the Film Commission’s report on the City of Zurich Film Award 2006
The Film Commission honoured Monica Rottmeyer and Gerald Damovsky for the commitment and professionalism they brought to ‘Mein Name ist Eugen’ and to their other films, and for their contribution to the artistic and technical quality of production design in Switzerland. The report notes that the two “co-invented film worlds […] For this rascals’ road movie, after extensive research and preparation, they rebuilt the Switzerland of 1964 on screen.” Our translation.
